Kalieb Osborne leads Connecticut to a 48-20 victory over Southern Miss with two touchdown passes and two rushing scores
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Kalieb Osborne threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for two more scores to lead Connecticut to a 48-20 victory over Southern Miss on Saturday night.
Osborne completed 16 of 22 passes for 214 yards and added 32 yards rushing on 10 carries. Cyncir Bowers had a 42-yard touchdown run and finished with 84 yards on the ground for UConn (2-1).
Osborne threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Shamar Porter to end a 75-yard opening drive for the Huskies. Braedyn Moore intercepted an Ethan Hampton pass on the ensuing series, and then Osborne made it 14-0 with a 5-yard touchdown run. Bowers' long run helped push the Huskies' advantage to 27-6 at halftime.
Osborne tossed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Trey Cornist, and his 11-yard TD run midway through the final quarter gave the Huskies a 48-13 lead.
Anas Luqman also had a 24-yard pick-6 for UConn.
Landry Lyddy was 14-of-25 passing for 194 yards and threw a touchdown pass and an interception for Southern Miss (1-2). Steven Robinson had 72 yards rushing, including a 1-yard scoring run for the Golden Eagles in the third quarter.
